I think I finally put the US national team’s elimination from the world cup behind me, for a while I didn’t even want to watch the rest of the world cup without them in it. I just can’t believe how horrible they played the entire time, and now I’ve gotta wait another 4 years to see them have another chance. The world cup is basically my only chance to get to watch soccer, since the only other option I have to watch living in the states as they say, is the MLS, which has few teams, doesn’t have a particularly high skill level (it’s like watching an AA baseball team play), and whose games are rarely broadcast outside of the cities they reside in. Yeah, I know with satellite tv, you can pickup the English Premeire leauge, but when you’re living with your parents that’s not really feasible to try and make them shift from cable to satelite when they’re perfectly happy with the previous. I’ll be fine though, soon as football season comes around….
Another close call on the job front, I think this one may just work out. The position calls for a freelance photographer to document real estate, which is a huge market around here. I’d basically spend my day driving around to various jobsites and along with taking stills set up a tripod to create those 3d quicktime applets you see on museum and real estate pages that let you mouse around to look at the enviroment. I’m hopin this goes through, since it’ll be a great intro in the freelance world. Freelance Photography intially seems pretty daunting to me (since you’ve got no company you’re working for and thus have to take care of all your finances and taxes yourself), so this should be a excellent crash course into that world. If this all goes through though, I’m beyond excited to actually be able to be getting back into photography and I won’t have to bide my time at a job in a field I care nothing about that wouldn’t pad my resume.
And this last.fm site is really kicking my ass reccomending new artists I’ve absolutely fallen in love with. The travel involved in this new job seems like a perfect fit though, since I’ll have plenty of time to listen to all these new bands. So far, here are some of my favorites:
Maximo Park
Editors
Athlete
Ladytron
Mogwai
Stereophonics
And I’m really lovin this new Gnarls Barkley album also, it takes alot for me to get into hip-hop (if that’s what you want to call it) so it really is above and beyond my expectations.
I don’t even know what to say, once again the U.S. national team choked in the world cup and just got beat badly by the Czech Republic 3-0. None of this is because one team is better than the other, rather due to the fact the U.S. just decided not to play today. They couldn’t even get down passing, every other one was straight to the otehr side or out of bounds, and the attacking wasn’t much better. They’re idea of driving to the goal was going straight through the other guy which leads to nothing but a foul or falling down, and even if they did get by no attempt at a shot was made. I believe there was only 4-5 shots the entire game, most from Johnson who came in as a sub at half-time, McBride and Donovan were pretty much nonexistent as Strikers, with Beasley and Reyna barely backing them up. The entire game was just incredibly frustrating, trying to watch a team you know are good yet they just didn’t show up to play. It’s going to be extremely tough for them get out of group play now, so once again this will probably be a squandered opportunity to show what they’re made of. Watching the game just drove me nuts, and I now I’ve got 40 minutes until Italy plays Ghana, which I can only hope will be a tie to improve any miniscule chance the U.S. has of getting out of group play. Either way, they better bring it on Saturday against Italy or it’s all over.
My xbox can blog also! I forgot all about this site and that I set it up to start, but I read all the entries my xbox made and they’re friggin hilarious. Apparently over the last few weeks I’ve sorted neglected him though with all the downloading and not playing games, but once he starts talking back our relationship is over…..ok, not really.

I’ve been going back and forth to the xbox360 downloading trailers for games from E3 all week, and so far I do believe my favorite is the one for Viva Pinata. It’s some sort of Animal Crossing, Pokemonesque game where you’re given a plot of land you you create a small pinata city for all your pinata creatures to inhabit. I have no clue how it’s going to work out, but I see myself spending quite a bit of time on it. The trailer show’d the usual hovering hand that lets you rearrange stuff, but at one part and evil pinata ran into the yard and the player beat him off with a shovel, eventually killing him yielding a small pile of candy from his innards. It’s creepy, but appeals to be none the less.
Of the other trailers, the only one that really stood out was Splinter cell Double Agent. The trailer blends gameply with elements of live action and shows a Sam Fisher who’s gone off the deep end and has got Lambert (I think that’s his name?) tied to a chair and you can only imagine the whoopass that will soon commence. I never saw the character going off the deep end like that, and never thought of lambert as a possible target so that surprise really got me amped for the game.
DOAXBV2 trailer downloaded also, looks exactly the same as the first with marginally better graphics and a few more mini games like racing jet-skis. If the gameplay of the actual volleyball wasn’t so one-dimensional and pared down to just 2 buttons, the game could be decent, as in a full on compelling arcade-style volleyball game ala top-spin. Instead it’s like a poor-man’s mario party with better graphics, I question who will actually buy this game.
Also, after many grandiose thoughts I finally just bit the bullet and started on the portfolio re-design, something simple yet complex, gonna try and do some cool CSS stuff with the handling of the images and such. I was trying to hard to make some insane site that would show off my talents to prospective employers, but I finally decided simple may be better.
